One of the easiest ways to add instant sophistication to your spring ensemble is with a pair of colorful sunnies. Lucky for you, eye-wear designer Warby Parker recently revealed an all-new collection, “Spectrum Sun” featuring “cheery shapes and punches of color” that will brighten up your spring plans this season.

What’s more, there’s no need to feel guilty about your purchase. For every pair sold, Warby Parker distributes a pair to someone in need. Now that’s what we call fashionable giving!

We had the opportunity to catch a preview of the collection and highlighted some of our favorite styles below:

We love the oversized Hall‘s strong browline and slightly square lenses, with a perfectly pretty cherry blossom tint.

Aviators are classic, and the Raskin in Jet Silver is a fresh take for the season.

“Forget going incognito. Quimby’s Absinthe round lenses will turn heads.”

The Downing (Striped Sassafras) is quirky, yet refined, and the blue tint feels fresh for spring.

Designer of the Year Bri Seeley Returns to Phoenix to Host Trunk Show

TrunkShow SQUARE

Whether you are a fashion blogger looking to network, a fashionista that shops local or you just want to stay on-top of the latest trends, the upcoming Bri Seeley x Indie Stitch event at Clothes Minded is a must! Join Bri Seeley, Phoenix Fashion Week’s 2012 Designer of the Year, for an exclusive shopping event at popular Ahwatukee Foothills boutique Clothes Minded! Clothes Minded owner Kim Kendall is passionate about supporting local designers (many of them connected with Phoenix Fashion Week!) and is striving to build awareness about the fact that “designer” clothing doesn’t have to cost a fortune.  “I am hosting this event to not only support Bri Seeley, but support the blogger community because they’re becoming a huge influence in the industry…every brand today should have a blog!” Kendall said.

Shop her award winning Escape Collection at 40% off, and pre-order her newest Silence Collection that debuted on the Phoenix Fashion Week runway last month! “I’m very excited to be returning to Phoenix. The community has been so remarkably supportive of my brand since winning Designer of the Year. An event like this, and the partnerships with Phoenix Fashion Week, Clothes Minded, and Indie Stitch give me an opportunity to connect with my customers on a more personal level,” Seeley said.

DATE: Friday, November 15, 2013
TIME: 4pm to 8pm
LOCATION: Clothes Minded AZ, 4810 E. Ray Road. #13, Phoenix, AZ 85044

Bri Seeley has also partnered with well-known local blogger Dustin Hoyman of Indie Stitch to activate the talented crop of bloggers here in Arizona. “Bloggers are becoming increasingly important to fashion. While a singular blog might not have the impact of a large publication, a strong blogging community can provide the voice and excitement to be the catalyst for change. We’re now seeing new trends and styles emerge from the blogosphere with viral speed. Indie Stitch wants to help build and grow our fashion community through creating real life connections between bloggers. The larger and more connected our community, the easier it is to attract designers and brands to our town, thus helping to grow our scene,” Hoyman said.

Focal Point Salon Presents…MIM Rocks Fashion

focal point

There are many important components that go into styling a fashion show. From the hair and makeup to accessories and the clothing itself. For MIM Rocks Fashion every year, top stylists are given a platform to show their creativity and styling talent to the fashion community in high-energy, focused fashion shows featuring looks by local designers and boutiques. Phoenix Fashion Week is thrilled to announce our MIM Rocks Fashion Title Sponsor for 2013, Focal Point Salon.

Focal Point Salon was born June 30, 2009 with a vision of a relaxing, colorful, and pampering atmosphere with a focus on guest satisfaction, catering to men and women alike. Their services include hair, makeup, and facial waxing. “Our Lather Lounge is our shampoo area separated from the salon by a waterwall. The room has four massaging shampoo chairs, dimmed lighting, soft music, and each guest is offered a hand and arm massage along with their scalp massage. After a long day at the office, the Lather Lounge experience is sure to put the mind at ease and relieve stress,” said Focal Point Salon Owner Lauren Naylor.

As a consistently recognizable name at fashion week events since last year’s Emerging Designer Announcement, Focal Point Salon is working behind the scenes with each of the five stylists leading up to and during the event to ensure their vision comes to life on the runway, from the perfect pop of lip color to a complex side braid, expect to see lots of fashion forward looks on the runway this Friday. “The Emerging Designer Announcement last June was an exciting event to be involved in. MIM Rocks Fashion is a larger show with many more models and looks. For us, it’s an amazing experience to be involved in and any fashion events possible…Not only for the experience but from a networking standpoint as well. It’s great to see the talented designers bring forward their new looks and for us to play a part in the completed look,” Naylor said.

For MIM Rocks Fashion, Focal Point Salon will collaborate with our top stylists to convey the exact look and feel they are envisioning for each of their fourteen runway looks. “We always come to an event prepared by putting together a book of current looks for the season. This way the designer can give us ideas of what they are looking for. The stylists come with an open mind and several accessories, pins, products and tools to be able to create the desired style. Same thing with makeup…whether a bold or natural look, we have many options available. Basically, we come ready for anything!”

“2013 will be a great year and we are thrilled to be a part of MIM Rocks Fashion and other upcoming events with Brian Hill and Phoenix Fashion Week!”

Samantha Patterson: Modest Is the New Black

If you haven’t heard, modestwear is chic and it’s here to stay! Attendees saw this firsthand at Phoenix Fashion Week 2012 this year, where Flagstaff’s own designer, Samantha Patterson‘s modestwear line graced the runway to cheers and acclaim by guests and fashion bloggers alike! “The response we received during PHXFW was 100% positive and encouraging.  Additionally, we were pleasantly surprised by the continued contact since October 6.  Boutique owners, press representatives, and retail customers have all sought us out in the past 6 weeks for more!” Patterson said.

Mikel Florman Photography    Mikel Florman Photography

As a contestant in the Emerging Designer Contest, Patterson’s designs proved their range and versatility in styling and wear  and revealed a true niche product that the fashion industry has been missing. Despite the assumptions that some may make about modestwear, Patterson has proven that with extra design elements, these subtle statement pieces are taken to the next level. “I love putting creativity in a box.  I believe that when an artist applies parameters to his/her work–modest guidelines in my case–it yields even more innovative ideas.  I use construction techniques, fabric embellishments, and other accents to compose truly original designs with classic silhouettes.” These techniques were seen on the runway in her Spring 2013 collection, from feminine flowy dresses to floral-printed pants, all tied together with perfectly pretty styling from head to toe.

What’s next for this talented Flagstaff-based designer? Patterson feels confident that because of Phoenix Fashion Week, she is ready to take her line to the next level. “PHXFW helped us make so many connections and now we have enough orders and interest to move forward with a large scale production run for S/S13.  Look out for our brand in stores starting in February 2013!” As for a sneak peek into her Fall 2013 line, Patterson promises “fun and edgy.  We have some surprising color choices and truly original silhouettes on the horizon.”

SPECIAL OFFER: Samantha Patterson Designs is offering our fans, followers and readers an exciting offer this holiday season. Any orders placed between now and DECEMBER 24th will receive a $30 coupon for use toward your next purchase!

Dawling Shawls Make the Perfect Holiday Gift for Any Fashionista

Shawl Dawls co-founders and designers Julie Cruz and Roshena Chadha debuted their unique line of versatile shawls and cover-ups meant for the everyday woman (that can be worn 15+ ways!) at Phoenix Fashion Week this past October to rave reviews and an eager audience. So eager, their growth overwhelmed them in a great way, and they are now carried in 19 stores (and counting!) in Arizona!  “Many were surprised and impressed with the true versatility and chic styling of our Shawls.  They had no idea that you could do all that with our Shawls – definitely not your ordinary Shawl!” said Cruz. They offer practical fashion without compromising on style, with fashionable formulas for multiple looks that can transform an outfit from casual to dressy, from day to night. They are largely inspired by the fabrics that they find and by elements of other styles and trends that they see.

As Emerging Designers of Phoenix Fashion Week, Los Angeles based Shawl Dawls began with creativity and energy for days, but required the mentoring and focus our Emerging Designer Contest was meant for. “The PHXFW program played a huge role in helping us to clarify our goals and steer in the right direction.  We were taught how to create financial projections, an operating budget, and a marketing plan – roadmaps for us to follow and essential tools for a profitable business.” Profitable business is right! With their goals to build a strong brand name that is recognized worldwide with a solid army of over 4,000 Dawl Stylists selling their designs globally, and their hopes to be the industry leader in versatile and innovative convertible wear, the future is bright (like a diamond!) for these designers!

For the fashionista in your life, check out their “Shawliday” Pack for the holidays. It’s a pre-pack that includes a Long Shawl, a Fleece Shawl, and a Button Brooch – a $90 value for $80, and a simple, easy, and perfect gift that any woman will appreciate for its styling versatility and practicality. Its also one-size-fits-all, which eliminates the stress of figuring out the right size to buy!
