PHXFW & Fashion Cinema present: August 2010

Phoenix Fashion Week and Fashion Cinema present:

“THE GREAT FASHION DEPRESSION”

A Phoenix Fashion Week Story

Fashionistas are struggling to find jobs during the economic recession. Make up artists are working for the circus. Models are in the streets displaying, “Will work for fashion” signs. Designers and boutiques are closing down as the sales of big chain markets are on the rise.

As if the fashion gods can hear our cries, our very own PHXFW Director, Brian Hill, the “savior of fashion,” comes to the rescue.

Hill becomes the ray of hope for these fashionistas and produces a fashion show for them. Thanks to the show’s success, fashion and venue come back to life again.

“The Great Fashion Depression,” produced by 3 Chicks Production, is a story based on the rising success of Phoenix Fashion Week despite the recession.

The film takes place in modern day Phoenix, but it is created and designed with elements from the 1920s.

The film features PHXFW team members Celestial Williams, Jennifer O’Bannon and Herman Plank, as well as local Arizona models, designers and fashionistas.

A special pre-screening party will be held on August 26, 2010 at Urban 7 for selected guests.

If you would like to be a part of this fabulous red carpet event, please contact Shakirah Karim at shakirah@phoenixfashionweek.com to get on the list.

Phoenix Fashion Week Brings Green Style to the Valley: February 2010

Phoenix Fashion Week Brings Green Style to the Valley

Arizona’s Premier Fashion Event

September 30th – October 2nd, 2010

February, 2010 Phoenix, AZ – Arizona’s leading fashion event, Phoenix Fashion Week will host the first ever eco-friendly fashion event in the valley. With increased global discussions about our carbon foot print, greenhouse gas emissions on the rise, man made environmental disasters in the news and the concern over depleting the earth’s resources, everyone is trying to do their part to become more environmentally friendly. Over the past few years, the fashion industry has taken note and now on September 30th, 2010, Phoenix Fashion Week goes green.

Since its foundation, Phoenix Fashion Week has stayed true in its mission to educate, inspire and nurture fashion within Arizona. This year that mission continues. Globally, there are a fast growing number of Eco friendly designers, makeup artists, manufacturers and enthusiasts.  There is a wide range of options for the environmentally conscious consumer to live a ‘fashionably green lifestyle’ – a concept not new to Phoenix Fashion Week but one that will be a major focus during this year’s event.  Throughout the line-up of more than 30 fashion designers, the eco-designers will use environmentally friendly techniques that include sustainable fabrics, safe dying inks, safe chemicals, and other natural design methods.

For this year’s event, the organization will incorporate sustainability and ‘living green’ in all aspects of the shows production. VIP’s, Eco Divas, fashionistas and paparazzi can mix and mingle in the new ECO Lounge. Featured models will be styled with organic makeup; attendees will get to walk the green carpet.  Fashion week guests should expect everything from eco-friendly apparel and accessories to recycled furniture and organic refreshments. “It’s our 6th Anniversary and as a brand we strive be on the forefront of all things fashionable. What these designers and companies are doing to help the environment just makes sense. Several of our Phoenix Fashion Week team members have been dedicated to green initiatives and sustainability for sometime. To us being green is more than just a color – it’s a lifestyle. Come September 2010, green will be the new black!” said Brian Hill, Executive Director of Phoenix Fashion Week.

Brands, products, and services that would like to participate in Phoenix Fashion Week and its green initiatives please can contact Phoenix Fashion Week: info@phoenixfashionweek.com.
