Infuse Yourself in Noctis Threads’ Vibe

When envisioning a budding partnership between two aspiring clothing designers, the images conjured up most likely consist of fast-talking, stiletto- wearing, fashion obsessed, yet driven females, arguing over fabric swatches.

What may not come to mind is a picture of two tattooed guys, icy-cold beers in hand, lounging by a pool in their conjoined back yards. But it is in that exact environment in which Andy Higgins and John Zukie came up with their clothing line, Noctis Threads. While Higgins and Zukie may not wear stilettos or argue over fabric swatches, make no mistake, these guys are just as driven about the success and future of their line as any fashion addicted, female designer.

Higgins, a musician from California and Zukie, a graphic designer from Brooklyn, both bring their own creative strengths to the partnership—Zukie assumes the role of creative designer of the line and Higgins takes charge of the business side.

“We design what we would want to wear ourselves,” Higgins explains before adding, “comfort is a big factor; you could pass out in these if you really wanted to.”

Higgins and Zukie both adamantly agree on the vibe they infuse into their line.

“There’s nothing angry or too aggressive about these clothes,” Zukie said. “There is an element of escape […] an easy, retro vibe. We wanted them to be fun and casual without looking like schleps.”

Complete with bold colors, clean, classic lines, and an unmistakable Native-American inspired owl symbol imprinted on each item, each piece evokes an effortlessly cool vibe; casual but not sloppy, hip but not showy.

“We’re not trying to change the world, but maybe throw a little chaos into the mix,” Zukie said a little mischievously when asked where he saw this line headed.

The resolute glance that follows between the two business partners, and ultimately good friends, is more than enough to believe Noctis Threads is, indeed, ready for whatever is next.

“It’s been a long process,” admits Higgins, “but we’re receiving love from friends who are willing to push us where we want this to go and we’re ready to do what it takes for people to know who we are. We’re ready.”

You will be able to meet John Zukie and Andy Higgins and experience the Noctis Threads collection on the runway during Phoenix Fashion Week October 7th– 9th, 2010.
