Zappos.com to Launch (3) Phoenix Fashion Week Emerging Designers
The Zappos.com partnership launched in 2011 in support of Phoenix Fashion Week’s Emerging Designer Contest and resulted in Sonoran, Mexico-based Emerging Designer Silvia Bours being chosen to feature her debut collection via their new digital style magazine iPad app. Now, Phoenix Fashion Week is thrilled to announce another successful year of fashion and our Emerging Designer Contest. While Bri Seeley was named ‘Designer of the Year,’ her brand, along with two other emerging designers, Jlynn Hausmann of JHaus and Paulie Gibson, were selected by the Zappos.com team to be sold exclusively in 2013 on their global e-commerce platform. “We had a difficult time choosing because the designers were so varied this time. And seeing a truly talented menswear designer is just the icing on the cake!” said Natasha Pace of Zappos.
“The partnership with Zappos.com just went to the next level by selecting three of our emerging designers to be carried on a billion dollar e-commerce platform and further reinforces Phoenix Fashion Week’s mission of ‘Bridging Designers with Buyers,'” said PHXFW Executive Director Brian Hill. With a talented group of emerging designers selected to debut at Phoenix Fashion Week this past October, twelve in total following a 7-city tour across the United States, it’s no surprise Zappos saw this same potential in many of them. “The mix of denim, womenswear and menswear spoke to us. The Zappos customer is ‘everyone’. They have varied interests, tastes, etc….Phoenix Fashion Week gave us a large pool to choose from,” Pace said.
Designer of the Year Bri Seeley brought her chic Seattle flair to Phoenix Fashion Week to serious acclaim and made countless guests new fans of the emerging brand. She can now say the cherry on top of her success story is her line being officially acquired for purchase on Zappos.com in April 2013! “It feels like all of my hard work and ridiculous hours are finally paying off! I’m excited to have the opportunity to showcase the brand on a larger scale and reach a huge amount of new customers!” Seeley said. With such a cohesive and wearable collection, it’s no surprise Zappos felt the line would be perfect for their customer base.”The pieces go together well and encourage the mix-and-match approach to
shopping.” With plans to relocate to Los Angeles, 2013 is sure to be an exciting year for the Bri Seeley brand. “My network is increasing with additional plans for product placement and more visibility in the fashion industry. I feel like it’s necessary to be in an area that will provide me with more opportunity to grow my brand.”
Jlynn Hausmann of JHaus is an emerging talent that designs an American made premium denim line inspired by American roots. Working out of Los Angeles, Hausmann has been exposed to numerous industry opportunities. However, she felt her time in the Emerging Designer Contest was essential in securing her February 1st debut on Zappos.com. “Phoenix Fashion Week kept us on task and prepared us…It’s really exciting to be on Zappo’s and to know all that hard work paid off. At JHaus, we admire the company culture that Zappos has created, and we are excited to be apart of it,” Hausmann said. What’s next for this talented designer before her line launches on Zappos.com? “We are so excited to be expanding into accessories. JHaus was just invited to New York Fashion Week by Elle magazine, which is really exciting!”
St. Louis based menswear designer Paulie Gibson has lived his life in fashion, from graduating with a Bachelor’s in Fashion Design to interning with the dynamic designer duo at Dsquared2. While Zappos recently discovered his talent, Paulie has been a Zappos fan for years. ” It feels surreal. I’ve been shopping on Zappos for years and to now know that my apparel will be available to the world on the biggest internet retailer in the world, that’s beyond huge. I’m so grateful, it’s a dream come true.” Gibson said. Like Seeley, after showing his collection at Phoenix Fashion Week, Gibson feels prepared to make the big move to Los Angeles in 2013 coupled with his Zappos.com debut in August. “I learned how to think bigger and believe in myself – and I will never be nervous to meet with another buyer ever again.”
To know that such a reputable industry influencer as Zappos.com is confident in finding the next “IT” emerging designers through Phoenix Fashion Week to feature on their own platform is truly incredible. 2013 is sure to be another great year for Phoenix Fashion Week!
