Resort 2012 Trends: Neon and Color blocking

There is no doubt that experimenting with color is one of the easiest ways to make a statement with your wardrobe and this time, the colors are even brighter than ever. From electric blue, poppy red, to hot pink and highlighter yellow, many designers have embraced these neon hues for their collections. The colors are excitingly bright but absolutely perfect the season. There is nothing like neon to make you look adventurous and bold. Even if you are not a big fan of the more vivid colors and usually go for a basic and neutral palette, try adding colorful accessories. Pair them up with clean whites or any neutrals and you can still have a fun ensemble while sticking to your palette.

Besides neon, color blocking has been seen throughout numerous resort collections as well. It became quite popular back in spring and continues to be a big hit with designers. For those who are not familiar with color blocking, it is another daring trend that involves combining two or three different, yet complimentary colors together. The goal is to create a minimal and sleek look with a bold palette. All it really takes is mixing and matching until you find the combinations you prefer with this trend. You can even pair neon-on-neon! Just make sure to limit the combinations of colors to three and try not to go overboard with accessories either. Remember that color blocking is also about keeping it simple at the same time.

So go wild and refresh your closet with the brightest neons and try color blocking to create a chic minimalistic outfit with striking colors. With this artistic approach, dull outfits will be history.
