PHXFW Rewind: If You Blog It, They Will Come

It seems hard to imagine, in this technologically driven world, that someone hasn’t heard of blogging.

Blogging and other forms of social media have become part of the daily lives of most people, along with many businesses and companies.

Not convinced yet?

How about the fact that the Independent Fashion Bloggers Evolving Influence Conference last year made front page news on Women’s Wear Daily (WWD). Or New York Magazine’s article about video bloggers, or “haulers,” that had the opportunity to take advantage of a shopping spree courtesy of JCPenny?

All I have to say is, sign me up! Apparently, the fashion industry seconds that motion.

Blogging may seem like a fun pastime to those making the posts, but for retailers it is an inside look at what the customer really wants.

What struggling retailer wouldn’t want to hear the advice of an avid fashionista blogging about how and where she shops for less, especially in this economy?

The information posted on blogs has become crucial to retailers. And the best part is that it’s a completely free marketing tool for those retailers who take advantage of it. New York and other fashion weeks have finally caught on to this idea in the past year, with with young, bright-eyed, fashion students on Twitter and bloggers yearning to attend one of the exclusive shows.

With the right attitude and skill, you may get a seat—front row, VIP style.

Amazing fashion bloggers are highly sought after by the fashion industry, and it’s not hard to understand why. What designer wouldn’t want bloggers Twittering, Facebooking and blogging about their fashion show, clothing and brand?!

Blogging and social media are some of the best marketing tools a company can use to reach out to consumers and promote their brand, especially in the fashion industry.

Check out some of my favorite bloggers. Fashion week, here they come!
