Focal Point Salon Presents…MIM Rocks Fashion
There are many important components that go into styling a fashion show. From the hair and makeup to accessories and the clothing itself. For MIM Rocks Fashion every year, top stylists are given a platform to show their creativity and styling talent to the fashion community in high-energy, focused fashion shows featuring looks by local designers and boutiques. Phoenix Fashion Week is thrilled to announce our MIM Rocks Fashion Title Sponsor for 2013, Focal Point Salon.
Focal Point Salon was born June 30, 2009 with a vision of a relaxing, colorful, and pampering atmosphere with a focus on guest satisfaction, catering to men and women alike. As a consistently recognizable name at fashion week events since last year’s Emerging Designer Announcement, Focal Point Salon is working behind the scenes with each of the five stylists leading up to and during the event to ensure their vision comes to life on the runway, from the perfect pop of lip color to a complex side braid, expect to see lots of fashion forward looks on the runway this Friday. “The Emerging Designer Announcement last June was an exciting event to be involved in. MIM Rocks Fashion is a larger show with many more models and looks. For us, it’s an amazing experience to be involved in and any fashion events possible…Not only for the experience but from a networking standpoint as well. It’s great to see the talented designers bring forward their new looks and for us to play a part in the completed look,” Naylor said.
For MIM Rocks Fashion, Focal Point Salon will collaborate with our top stylists to convey the exact look and feel they are envisioning for each of their fourteen runway looks. “We always come to an event prepared by putting together a book of current looks for the season. This way the designer can give us ideas of what they are looking for. The stylists come with an open mind and several accessories, pins, products and tools to be able to create the desired style. Same thing with makeup…whether a bold or natural look, we have many options available. Basically, we come ready for anything!”

Brian Swan, Styling Bri Seeley
Brian J Swan is a seasoned, creative, reliable Professional Fashion Stylist. Brian has been styling for over 6 years & is the owner of Right Hand Man Image Consulting. He continues to work with both men & women of all ages, professions, sizes and backgrounds. Brian’s work includes celebrity styling, personal styling, photo/video shoots, TV, fashion shows, editorials, campaigns and more. Most recently, Brian has relocated to Las Vegas to join the Zappos.com team as a stylist. “Sometimes I have to pinch myself like, ‘I’m getting paid to do this?’ I am beyond thankful and humble,” Swan said. Styling Bri Seeley’s show for MIM Rocks Fashion this year, Brian is thrilled to have been invited back the third year in a row. “For the fashion community to think so highly of me to invite me back three years in a row is AMAZING. This so is beneficial because I’m able to network with other fashion professionals. Plus there’s nothing like it out there!” Expect the unexpected when it comes to Brian’s runway show styling this year for Bri Seeley. “My inspiration for this show came from Milan fashion shows and their entertainment value…ladies, you’ll see me include growing trends like fluid garments and the color Emerald Green.”
Fawn Cheng, Styling ENVY by Khanh
Styling for clients since 2007, Fawn’s philosophy stems from her affinity to capture and express what is artfully unique about her clients. “Beauty comes from within; how we dress and share our physical selves with the world is a powerful expression of that.” Fawn is a featured keynote speaker and fashion expert on Good Morning Arizona and is currently a Project Manager at JANI Model Management. Joining MIM Rocks Fashion as a top stylist for the second year in a row, working with designer ENVY by Khanh came as a natural fit for Fawn, whose feminine, sophisticated styling perfectly compliments Khanh’s form fitting garments. “The Spring collection of Envy by Khanh is graphic oriented. What I noted at first glance was his affinity for angles, asymmetry, space, color blocking in triads of color and form fitting designs. This inspired me to style the runway show to also includes the juxtaposition of curves, sensuality, and mystique. Expect to see these elements included in this show, ” Cheng said.
Yekatherina Bruner, Styling Divaz Boutique
A world citizen, Yekatherina’s global travels have shaped her culturally-diverse approach to fashion. In addition to her love for style, Yekatherina has a wide experience as a fashion show producer. Yekatherina Bruner has recently been named as a Glamour Magazine “Glambassador ” for 2013. Based out of Tucson, Yeka looks to bridge the fashion gap between Tucson and Phoenix through styling the Tucson-headquartered Divaz Boutique. “Branding is key to any business and us, as fashion stylists, have our own signature style. That’s what I am coming to the runway this March to let people know what I am all about as a stylist,” Bruner said. While pulling together the pieces for the Divaz Boutique fashion show, Yeka was inspired by “everything about spring in France, the colors, textures, even macaroons!” In fact, guests should expect a breath of fresh air in Yeka’s styling, featuring “lots of bright colors with a not so typical french flair.”
Rochelle York, Styling Clothes Minded
Rochelle is a native from Glendale, Arizona and has been a personal stylist since 2006. She has had over a decade of experience in retail and working with photographers, television personalities and women in the valley find the right style for them! Rochelle is also a featured fashion expert and stylist on 3TV’s ‘Your Life A-Z’. Bringing her bubbly personality to the MIM Rocks Fashion stage for the first time, Rochelle felt incredibly honored. “When I received my first call from Phoenix Fashion Week..it was a little bit of a blurred conversation because I could not believe I was getting a call from a organization that I have been following and blogging about for years! This experience is amazing to me because I want women to know that there are personal stylists out there; like me, that truly care about them,” York said. Styling for Clothes Minded, Rochelle’s inspirations for the shows styling are far-reaching, from the blogs she reads to the window displays at local boutiques. Guests should expect looks that are “bright and fun with a floral twist.”
Amir Saebi, Styling Amir’s La Voute
Originally from Tehran, Iran, Amir Saebi got a taste for European fashion at a young age. Fashion has always been a big part of his life and his family’s life, coming from a family of senators and industrialist, they always had to look their best to represent their family. As a new business owner of Amir’s La Voute, Saebi feels this MIM Rocks Fashion opportunity is the perfect fit. “We have just reached our one year anniversary and what better way to celebrate than to partner up with only the best of the best (Phoenix Fashion Week) to kick off the celebration with a one of a kind fashion show. As a fashion designer, Khanh has developed an audacious aesthetic of femininity, juxtaposing tradition and innovation. After debuting his impressive Emerging Designer collection at PHXFW 2012, Khanh plans to wow again with his fashion forward spring collection featuring trendy cutout details and colorblocking. “The Envy by Khanh spring collection of 2013 will help set the trend for the upcoming spring season starting with Arizona. With the help of Phoenix Fashion Week, we will continue to bridge designers and buyers together,” Khanh said. Clothes Minded
After being in the retail and fashion merchandising industry for over 25 years, owner Kim Kendall felt it was time to open a shop of her own. Located in the Ahwatukee Foothills area on Ray Road and the I-10, Clothes Minded is a boutique featuring hand selected, trendy pieces from recognizable brands like Ella Moss and BB Dakota, along with many local PHXFW brands like Shawl Dawls, Jhaus and more! “I am passionate about supporting the local designer which is why I carry many local designer brands in my store,” Kendall said. As a new boutique working to offer merchandise unique to their customers’ shopping habits, Clothes Minded sets itself apart in a sea of the same and hopes to create a sense of awareness through MIM Rocks Fashion. “Being tied in with Phoenix Fashion Week will give my store credibility with the fashion conscious ladies in Arizona, those are the ladies I want shopping in my store.” Styled by 3TV personality and personal stylist Rochelle York, Clothes Minded’s spring show will feature affordable, wearable trends, promising pops of color and fun twists.
Amir’s La Voute
This eclectic vintage shop is located inside the dashing Vintage by Misty boutique in the heart of Downtown Phoenix. This boutique carries everything from mens vintage, to limited edition luxury, mens accessories, and even fun oddities from some of the world’s top designers. They strive to be beautiful, edgy and sexy, while still keeping it classy. Divaz Boutique and Grand Central Clothing also strive to keep prices in a range that excite customers of all ages and incomes. New Exhibit Opening: Digital Print Fashion at Phoenix Art Museum – Friday, March 1st, 7pm
Phoenix Art Museum’s newest fashion exhibit, ‘Digital Print Fashion’ is set to feature over 40 works by contemporary designers including Mary Katrantzou, Alexander McQueen, Ralph Rucci and Issey Miyake among others incorporate digitally printed textiles in their designs. In addition, a selection of works outlining the history of printed textiles from Phoenix Art Museum’s fashion design collection will give context to these revolutionary looks.

Fashion Week Favorites: 2013 Oscars Red Carpet
The Oscars are mesmerizing and a bit sad at the same time, mainly because it reminds me of the end of an amazing season of awards shows and their stunning red carpets. That being said, the dynamic duo (aka Tina Fey and Amy Poehler) would have been a welcomed hosting sight, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself, watching the hours of red carpet coverage and endless Twitter chatter surrounding the big night.
White was definitely a standout color trend on the red carpet this year. While I was a bit surprised at the lack of color, there were definitely many fashion moments that stood out as our clear “favorites”:
As the new face of Dior, Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence wowed in an ivory gown from the designer’s Spring ’13 Couture collection.
Jessica Chastain’s old-Hollywood waves and red lip were perfectly paired with her custom copper Armani Prive gown and Christian Louboutins.
Oscar winner (and new mom!) Adele kept her look simple and classic in a sparkly black number by Jenna Packham and Harry Winston diamonds.
Charlize Theron is one of only a few that can pull off a blonde cropped do, matched with her white Dior Haute Couture gown and Harry Winston jewels.
Jennifer Aniston was a welcomed sight on the red carpet (her first appearance in four years!) in a Valentino red gown.
In the best color and jewels of the night, Jennifer Garner wowed in a plum ruffled custom Gucci number and incredible Neil Lane statement necklace.
Best Actress nominee Naomi Watts was electrifying in an Armani Prive gown, complete with a pair of Jimmy Choos.
Zoe Saldana was a breathe of fresh air on the red carpet (minus that belt) in her unique Alexis Mabille gown with ruffled top and mult-colored hem.

March is around the corner, and for fashionistas in the Valley, it is the start of swimsuit season!

At SwimSpot, women can choose a young, contemporary swimsuit look or go the more classic swimsuit route. Whichever look you choose, they’ve got what you’re searching for. The boutique has cute accessories and cover-ups to create the perfect poolside outfit.
In this shop, you will find nothing but swimsuits from the 2013 season, because SwimSpot at SanTan Village holds no 2012 repeats. So expect to surprise everyone at the pool with styles they haven’t yet seen. Meier let Phoenix Fashion Week know that one of the biggest swimsuit trends this season is the cropper flutter top, and at SwimSpot, you’ll find this style in many different colors and textures. Another popular trend for the season is the revamped fringe top Meier said.
